Sarah DeVido, MSc, FNTP

A research scientist’s path from the NIH to functional medicine — and why midlife biology deserves a new set of rules.

Sarah DeVido, MSc, FNTP

Sarah DeVido’s journey into the world of functional health began in the high-stakes laboratories of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). As an Epigenetics researcher with a Master of Science, she spent years deciphering the complex language of gene expression — specifically how our environment, nutrition, and lifestyle act as the ultimate “volume knobs” for our health.

But Sarah’s passion for functional medicine also became deeply personal. As she navigated her own health struggles and searched for answers to what was happening in her body, she realized that the same principles she studied in research — environment, nutrition, stress, and lifestyle — were not abstract concepts. They were the very keys to helping her restore her own health. That discovery ultimately led her to pivot careers, dive deeper into functional medicine, and begin applying those same root-cause principles to help other women understand and support their bodies.

However, it was her observation of the gaps in conventional midlife care that truly shifted her mission. She saw countless women in perimenopause and menopause being told their symptoms were “just part of aging” or that they simply needed to “eat less and move more.” Her scientific background told her otherwise. She knew that midlife biology isn’t a breakdown; it’s a transition that requires a new set of rules.

Today, Sarah combines her rigorous research background with her certification as a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (FNTP) to bridge the gap between complex science and compassionate care. Her Heal Intelligently™ Framework moves away from the “guess-and-check” method, using functional testing and epigenetic insights to restore harmony to the female body. Sarah believes that when women are given the right data and a strategic plan, they don’t just survive midlife — they thrive with more energy and vitality than ever before.

The science, on the air

Sarah joined FOX 5 News to break down the gut–skin connection — why chronic breakouts, redness, and inflammation so often start in the belly, not the bathroom cabinet. It’s the same root-cause, test-first thinking she brings to every client inside the Heal Intelligently™ Framework. Watch the full segment below.
